Nevada City, July-September 2020, Fire Hazard to Food Forest Transformation

Fire hazard branches were touching flammable leaf material on roof. I turned this problem into a solution. This is a beautiful and expensive  house, so I carefully cut and dropped the branches away from the house, and dragged them down to the sunny part of the overgrown blackberry bramble brush corner of the yard and started building hugelkultur garden beds.

The house looks and feels so much better with this fire hazard removed! I went around the entire ~2 acre landscape removing any fire hazards that I was able to up to 15 feet tall and constructing 7 Hugelkultur Garden Beds.

The overgrown trees and brush surrounding this property were the most hazardous. These have been an eyesore and a real threat to the landowners for many years. I saw them as an opportunity to create more Hugelkulture garden beds :) I used my electric chainsaw and electric pole saw to clean up all of the fire hazard branches up to 15 feet tall, thinning any trees and dead wood that was creating fir

One month after building these beds, filling them with my special hugelkultur recipe, and quickly spreading organic seeds and mulch, these beds are now producing organic, nutritious, tasty and edible greens and beans to eat!
